About Dr Stacy G. Wendell

Stacy G. Wendell is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology and the Scientific Director of the University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences Metabolomics and Lipidomics Core. Dr. Wendell obtained a PhD in chemistry from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and was an NRSA postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Ian Blair at the University of Pennsylvania where she developed small molecule LC-MS methodology for the analysis of environmental biomarkers of lung cancer and arachidonic acid metabolites. Dr. Wendell’s current research is focused on the formation and signaling of bioactive fatty acids in asthma and inflammation. More specifically, Dr. Wendell studies how electrophilic fatty acids, such as nitroalkenes promote cellular protective responses through the modulation of immune cell metabolism to alter inflammatory signaling pathways.
