About Dr Jean Marie Galano & Dr Ángel Sánchez-Illana

Jean-Marie Galano  is directeur de recherche at the Centre National de la recherche scienfique (CNRS). he studied chemistry at Paul Cézanne Université Marseille and obtained his PhD in 2001 in the field of Natural product synthesis. He then moved to the University of Oxford to pursue a postdoctoral fellowship for three years under MarieCurie Fellowship, then joined the CNRS in 2005 as a Chargé de Recherche, and the  laboratory of Synthesis of Bioactive Lipids in Montpellier at the Institute of Biomolecules Max-Mousseron. His research initially focused on the novel chemical approaches for oxylipins especially isoprostanoid like and isofuran. As of today, he is also implicated in several organic chemical projects usually adding a lipid flavour to something, like Lipopeptide with Dr Nicolas Cenac and Justine Bertrand-Michel in Toulouse.

Ángel Sánchez-Illana earned a 5-year Chemistry degree and a Master's in Experimental Techniques from the University of Valencia in Spain. His PhD in Chemistry was completed at the Health Research Institute La Fe in 2021. Throughout his academic journey, he developed a robust expertise in GC-MS, LC-MS, vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR and Raman), and chemometrics, with a specific emphasis on applications in clinical and biomedical settings. Since 2022, he's been a postdoctoral fellow at IBMM in Montpellier, working with Jean-Marie Galano to enhance non-targeted analysis of oxylipins and novel non-enzymatic oxidized lipid derivatives using molecular networking techniques.
