Alternative ProductsEvent=Alternative splicing; Named isoforms=2; Name=Long; IsoId=Q9SXZ2-1; Sequence=Displayed; Name=Short; IsoId=Q9SXZ2-2; Sequence=VSP_004543, VSP_004544;
Developmental StageExpression gradually increases with time under both long-day (LD) and short-day (SD) photoperiods. Under LD conditions, expression is first detected on day 4 and plateaued around day 6, preceeding floral commitment around days 9 and 10.
FunctionProbable component of the mobile flower-promoting signal (floral stimulus or florigen). Promotes the transition from vegetative growth to flowering. Required for 'SEPALLATA3' (SEP3) and 'FRUITFULL' (FUL) accumulation in mature rosette leaves. Seems to acts in parallel with 'LEAFY' to induce flowering by regulating 'APETALA1'. May play a role in both the autonomous and the long- day flowering pathways. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:16099979, ECO:0000269|PubMed:16099980, ECO:0000269|PubMed:16155177}.
InductionBy light. Expression is delayed and reduced under SD conditions. Repressed by FLC. Up-Regulated by VOZ1 and/or VOZ2. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:16099980, ECO:0000269|PubMed:22904146}.

MiscellaneousMutagenesis of Tyr-85 to His converts the activator of flowering "FLOWERING LOCUS T" into a "TERMINAL FLOWER 1"-like repressor of flowering.
SimilarityBelongs to the phosphatidylethanolamine-binding protein family. {ECO:0000305}.
Subcellular LocationCytoplasm {ECO:0000269|PubMed:16099979}. Nucleus {ECO:0000269|PubMed:16099979}.
SubunitInteracts with FD/BZIP14. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:16099979, ECO:0000269|PubMed:16099980}.
Tissue SpecificityMostly localized in leaves vasculature. Transcripts can move in the phloem from leaves to shoot apex at a velocity between 1.2 and 3.5 mm/h. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15618421, ECO:0000269|PubMed:16099949}.
