Biological Context

Corylin is a flavonoid that has been found in P. corylifolia and has diverse biological activities.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 It inhibits carboxylesterase 1 (CES1; Ki = 0.7 µM), aldose reductase (IC50 = 7.5 µM), and IL-6-induced STAT3 activation in a reporter assay using Hep3B cells (IC50 = 1.37 µM).1,9,3 Corylin (10 µM) inhibits the migration and invasion of MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells and LPS-induced prostaglandin E2 (PGE2; Item No. 14010) and nitric oxide (NO) production in RAW 264.7 cells.4,5 It induces osteogenesis in micromass cultures from rat E13 limb bud cells.6 Corylin decreases body weight and white adipose tissue weight and induces adipocyte browning in a mouse model of diet-induced obesity and increases survival in aged mice fed a high-fat diet.7,8
